As amazing as the genre is, not all anime is worth watching. In fact, the worst shows should be avoided unless you enjoy cringing or laughing for all the wrong reasons.
However, with so much on the market, it is not always easy to separate the good from the bad and the ugly without a bit of input from others. That is where this blog post comes in. Here, you will find out about the worst anime of all time.
1. Dark Cat
In the world of anime, straight to video releases can be the equivalent of the holy grail. When it comes to the series Dark Cat, not so much.
The utterly bizarre offering tells the story of two cats that have the power to change into humans. The cat creatures need to find a solution to an increasing number of people who have simply vanished throughout Japan. The problem with the series is that it veers excruciatingly close to hentai (tentacles included), but without the nudity and, ahem, adult activities.
2. Mars of Destruction
Yoshiteru Satou’s 2005 release, Mars of Destruction, seems to be the anime series that saw the least investment of time and effort in its creation. The animation was drawn badly, and that is not all. The series does not feature any original music. It was easier and cheaper for the production team to use public domain classical music.
The story is set after a mission to Mars ends in disaster. It follows the adventures of four characters who must battle creatures known as the Ancients around Tokyo. Mars of Destruction is cheap, nasty, and best avoided. You would be better off enjoying eSports betting Australia.
2. Hanoka
Hanoka, the first animated film created with Adobe Flash, arguably is the genre’s most visually unappealing title. What’s more, the plot is one we have seen 1000 times.
Humans land on a planet. The planet is inhabited by aliens. The aliens do not want humans there. The humans do not want the aliens there. The humans and the aliens fight. Yawn. It really does deserve a spot among the most appalling anime ever.
3. Bikini Warriors
Bikini Warriors comes across as a series that was never actually meant to be. The creators used designs from various artists to create the lead characters.
Now, this is not entirely unlike the way in which the cult franchise Transformers was created. Unfortunately, whereas Transformers plots are riveting, Bikini Warriors is something of a joke – only, no one is laughing. Basically, the series follows the misadventures of four female warriors in bikini armour.
4. Pupa
One of anime’s worst horror series, Pupa plays out in episodes that, bizarrely, are only 4 minutes long. It all begins when a brother and sister are abandoned by their abusive father.
Both children are infected with a mysterious virus. The girl develops a craving for human flesh, while the brother develops the power to heal and regenerate. The series is not much more than 4-minute sequences of the sister eating the brother.
