If there’s one thing we know for sure about anime, it’s that it has an incredible way of ensuring that the viewer forms an emotional connection with the characters. We’ve all watched anime and fallen in love with a specific character, but sometimes the character you form the greatest connection with is the character you despise the most.
With that in mind, we’ve put together a list of the most-hated anime characters of all time.
Akame Ga Kill!: Seryu Ubiquitous
At first, Seryu Ubiquitous comes across as a gentle character, but we soon realise that she is anything but. Her true character is so twisted that she fights and destroys many innocent characters that do not deserve her wrath by any means.
She was not always bad though and her change from virtuous to pure evil left many fans feeling betrayed by her character and she most certainly deserves a place on this list.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Shou Tucker
He may be a minor character, but this hasn’t stopped Shou Tucker from becoming one of the most-hated anime characters of all time. While brilliant, Shou does not use his power for good and instead uses it to turn his wife into a chimera and leaves her like that to suffer for the rest of her life without having any way of returning to her human form.
To make matters worse, his wife was completely innocent and did nothing to deserve such a punishment. Shou should’ve just used his energy to enjoy online betting NZ instead!
Inuyasha: Naraku
Known for having an uncontrollable rage, Naraku wreaks havoc in the life of anyone who has the misfortune of crossing his path.
Worse still, he has amazing powers which could be used for good, but he always flees when his help his needed the most. Naraku absolutely enjoys watching people suffer and that makes him entirely deserving of his appearance on this list.
School Days: Makoto Itou
When considering the most greedy and immoral characters in anime, you would be hard-pressed to come up with anyone worse than Makoto Itou.
Greed, lying, womanising, and cheating are the name of the game here and he made a large contribution to the horrifying ending of School Days.
Bleach: Sōsuke Aizen
Sōsuke Aizen is a clear master of deception has he allows those around him to do the dirty work while he pretends to be weak and helpless. He may come across as innocent, but we soon realise that he is a character who chose to use his powers for evil instead of good.
A consistent trickster, Sōsuke sits back and watches his nefarious plans play out while claiming to be unable to assist in any way.
Sword Art Online: Nobuyuki Sugōu
We’ve all heard of cyber bullying in this modern age, but Nobuyuki Sugōu takes this to a whole new level in Sword Art Online.
Power-hungry and conceited, Nobuyuki kidnaps over 300 players and used them to perform mind-control experiments and sent them to other games without their consent. Fortunately he was stopped before he could cause more damage.
